Female American Wigeon distinguished from Eurasian Wigeon by thin black border at base of bill. Also has paler grey head and darker eye patch, giving more masked appearance. In Asia, vagrant American Wigeon commonly seen associating with Eurasian Wigeon, and American x Eurasian hybrids frequently noted.
