Oriental Skylark Oriental Skylark Alauda gulgula, Qinghai, China, August. (Craig Brelsford) Oriental Skylark, Chongming Island, Shanghai, April. This bird, one of the pair whose nest I saw being constructed, shows a pale-buff trailing edge to the wing, not the noticeably brighter white trailing edge characteristic of Eurasian Skylark Alauda arvensis. The tail is shorter than is typical in Eurasian Skylark. (Craig Brelsford) Lake Poyang, Jiangxi, China, November. The wing panel and short primary projection suggest Oriental Skylark.
