White-throated Bulbul Alophoixus flaveolus flaveolus reaches China in southeast Tibet; burmanicus western Yunnan. HABITAT & BEHAVIOR Noisy, social, moves through lower story of broadleaved forest, much as similar Puff-throated Bulbul A. pallidus, and like Puff-throated more often heard than seen. ID & COMPARISON Like Puff-throated has scraggly brown crest and puffy beard-like throat feathers. Mantle brownish-olive (Puff-throated more olive-green); breast and belly strong lemon-yellow (much brighter than Puff-throated); wings and tail brown. BARE PARTS Bill grey; feet brown. VOICE Loud, high-pitched, insistent call, like small dog barking. — Craig Brelsford
