Wader Conservation World Watch is going to be great! Read the email Rick Simpson sent me and participate this coming weekend:

Hi Craig.

I wondered if you had heard about our Wader Conservation World Watch event that we carry out each year on the first weekend of November (5th and 6th this year)?

We would like to invite you to take part if you are free to do so or are already planning to be in the field this weekend.

This is first and foremost an awareness raising event, so the more people that take part the greater our reach in informing people about what is going on with declining wader populations around the world.

From our perspective it is the taking part that counts, not the number of species you see, indeed each year we do get zero counts, but that is as much appreciated as a list of dozens of species.

It is easy to contribute, simply go and look for waders wherever you happen to be in the world and let us know

1. What you saw

2. Where you saw it

3. With whom you saw it

and you can submit your lists either by;

1. emailing your sightings to wcww@waderquest.net

2. or share your eBird list with our account – WaderQuestTeam

We will then compile the Roll of Honour listing all participants, make a species list and produce a newsletter with details of what was seen, where, and any interesting sightings or stories including photographs of participants and birds seen if you send them to us using wcww@waderquest.net

So, please, if you can spare some time from a few moments to check your local fields to an entire weekend of wonderful shorebird watching, please take the opportunity to show your support for this amazing and inspirational group of birds and the people around the world who are trying to make their lives just that little bit less stressful once again.

Also, if you still have contacts in Shanghai, then it would be lovely to have more involvement from that part of the world too.

I have attached some blurb in case you wanted to find out more or you could do the same by visiting the wcww website page.

All the best and apologies again for dropping this on you unannounced.

All the best.

Rick.
